First time on iQIYI English -- Get the iQIYI APP?

1. Look for the playlist with the full run in order. Channels often post clips and trailers alongside the episodes.
2. Turn on subtitles with the CC button, then pick English. Some channels burn them into the picture instead.
3. Episodes here usually arrive later than on the paid platforms.

The overseas arm, at iq.com. Separate from the mainland iQIYI app.

First time on iQIYI International?

1. Use iq.com — this is the international site. Do not install the mainland iQIYI app; it will not accept an overseas sign-up and the catalogue is different.
2. Sign up with an email address. A Chinese phone number is not required.
3. Set the site language to English before browsing, or titles show in Chinese only.
4. VIP buys early access to upcoming episodes. Overseas cards work; the price shown depends on your region.

On WeTV the dub isn’t in the player’s settings bar like other platforms — it’s a separate version. Switch to it from the version menu under the show’s title on WeTV’s main page (Original Ver. / English Ver. / Thai Ver.). If the menu isn’t there or doesn’t work, search WeTV for the title directly — dubs are sometimes listed as their own shows.

Tencent's international service. Not the same catalogue as 腾讯视频 inside China.

First time on WeTV?

1. Install WeTV from your app store, or just open wetv.vip in a browser — the website works in more places than the app is listed.
2. You can watch free episodes without an account. Make one only when you want VIP.
3. Open the show and check the subtitle button (speech-bubble icon) — set it to English. WeTV defaults to the language of your phone, which is not always English.
4. VIP unlocks episodes early. It takes a normal overseas card; you do not need a Chinese phone number.

Getting onto Netflix is not the problem. Knowing whether it actually has the show where you are is.

First time on Netflix?

1. Search the English title first, then the Chinese one. Netflix often lists a Chinese drama under a title nobody else uses.
2. Netflix licenses Chinese dramas country by country, and its Chinese catalogue differs more between regions than most of its library. A title a friend abroad is watching may simply not exist in your account.
3. Where Netflix does carry a currently-airing drama, it usually runs behind the Chinese platforms rather than alongside them. If you are keeping up week to week, that is the trade-off you are making for professional subtitles.
