WeTV’s own page confirms the full fifty-episode run with English subtitles. The trade-off is blunt: a few free episodes, then a paywall.

Watch on WeTV

First time on WeTV?

  1. Install WeTV from your app store, or just open wetv.vip in a browser — the website works in more places than the app is listed.
  2. You can watch free episodes without an account. Make one only when you want VIP.
  3. Open the show and check the subtitle button (speech-bubble icon) — set it to English. WeTV defaults to the language of your phone, which is not always English.
  4. VIP unlocks episodes early. It takes a normal overseas card; you do not need a Chinese phone number.

  2. Turn on subtitles with the CC button, then pick English. Some channels burn them into the picture instead.
  3. Episodes here usually arrive later than on the paid platforms.

First time on Rakuten Viki?

  1. Open viki.com or install Viki. Availability is per-title and per-country, so a show can be here for you and missing for a friend abroad.
  2. Free viewing includes ads. Viki Pass removes them and unlocks some titles.
  3. Subtitles are volunteer-made — a brand-new episode may sit at partial coverage for a few hours before it reaches 100%.

Netflix Subscription

Getting onto Netflix is not the problem. Knowing whether it actually has the show where you are is.

50 episodes, complete.

Subtitled inEnglish, Spanish (Latin America), Vietnamese, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Indonesian, Malay, Portuguese (Brazil), Thai

Dubbed inNot dubbed — original Mandarin audio.

Watch on Netflix

First time on Netflix?

  1. Search the English title first, then the Chinese one. Netflix often lists a Chinese drama under a title nobody else uses.
  2. Netflix licenses Chinese dramas country by country, and its Chinese catalogue differs more between regions than most of its library. A title a friend abroad is watching may simply not exist in your account.
  3. Where Netflix does carry a currently-airing drama, it usually runs behind the Chinese platforms rather than alongside them. If you are keeping up week to week, that is the trade-off you are making for professional subtitles.

Prime Video Subscription

Carries a thin slice of Chinese drama, and often as a purchase rather than as part of Prime.

50 episodes, complete.

Watch on Prime Video

First time on Prime Video?

  1. Search the English title. Chinese dramas on Prime are frequently listed under an alternate English name, and occasionally under a title that belongs to an entirely different film — check the cast before you buy.
  2. Read the price line carefully. A Chinese drama here is often buy-or-rent rather than included with a Prime subscription, which the storefront does not make obvious.
  3. Prime’s Chinese catalogue varies sharply between countries, more so than the rest of its library.

仙侠 xianxia, 武侠 wuxia

Two cultivators from rival clans are forced back together when something they buried resurfaces. Half of it is flashback, working out how the reckless one became the thing everybody feared. Adapted from Mo Dao Zu Shi, and still the single most-searched Chinese drama in English.
